Sony HDR-HC1E + Rode VideoMic = Error

Two days before I bought a Rode VideoMic for my Sony HDR-HC1E because I wanted to get a sound quality that fits to the very high quality of the HDV-Cam. The first problem was that Sony doesn’t use the standard hot-foot for microphones but a special Sony-foot that only works with two or three Sony-microphones that are real shit (I tested them)!!! You can see the solution on the photograph:

(Bad photograph, I know, but I’m too lazy to take another one)

The second problem was that I always had some weird distorsions when I was recording with the mic. That was not what I wanted wen I bought it. The solution was to adjust the recording-level of the camera manual and lower than 50%. I think maybe the signal that comes out the mic is to strong for the cam.

I would be very happy if anyone else had some more suggestions what to do…

EDIT : It was actually the microphone, I changed it after two visits at the shops, and it works perfectly now! Very good quality!

The rode videomic has an switch with normal, -10dB, -20dB mode! Use this to make lower output mic level! The sound is gonna be better! (sry for my bad english)
